¡Viva México! Visiting our partners at Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey

Our partners at Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) gave a warm welcome to Dr. Helmut Dinger (CEO of RWTH International Academy) and Prof. Bernd Markert (Rector's Representative for South America and Director of the Institute of General Mechanics at RWTH Aachen University) this march. Together with Melanie Ostfeld, director of the liaison office at Monterrey campus, they visited different laboratories and research groups and created new agreements for the future.

Official opening ceremony of our liaison office

The official inauguration of the liaison office established by ITESM took place on the Monterrey campus. Our RWTH representatives spoke with deans at ITESM about the office and how to strengthen future collaborations. Together they developed more initiatives and ideas. Different research groups presented their approaches and efforts, and the German visitors were invited to visit mechanics and mechatronics labs.

It became very clear how both institutions aim to support each other. May this collaboration be of great value for many years to come.

Excellent project presentation on Electric Mobility

We are also pleased about the excellent project presentation of our course participants, who we had welcomed in Aachen last summer. 22 ITESM professors participated in a training program on Electric Mobility at RWTH Aachen from June 20 to July 1, 2022. Afterwards they have been working on projects which they presented on site in Mexico. We are delighted to have been able to award the certificates to all participants in person – congratulations for so much effort from RWTH International Academy!

Valuable opportunities for students from Latin America

Our visit included creating essential agreements for Qualification Programs – a valuable opportunity for international students to get the ideal qualification for their desired Master’s degree program at RWTH Aachen University.

The so-called RWTH German Engineering College offers participants the advantage of tailored preparation in our customizable digital classes. The choice of 5 online courses will be integrated in the bachelor's degree programs at ITESM to be recognized as part of their studies. Upon successful completion of the German Engineering College, the students gain exclusive admission to our M.Sc. degree programs in engineering.

Start writing your Bachelor thesis at RWTH and get prepared for our M.Sc. programs

Another chance we enable together with ITESM is the 3+1+2 Program. This program is offered exclusively for students from cooperating universities and we are looking forward to welcoming students from the Monterrey campus in the future.

First, the admission requirements are fulfilled in our preparatory online course. Afterwards, the participants gain work experience during an internship at RWTH, start writing their bachelor thesis and deepen their qualification during on-campus courses. This is an exciting way to offer students from Latin America an exclusive admission to their desired master's program at RWTH International Academy.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for this exciting week! A special thanks goes to:

  • Enrique Díaz de León López, PhD, Associate Dean for Faculty Development, School of Engineering and Science
  • Julio Noriega, National Dean, School of Engineering & Sciences
  • Joaquín Acevedo, Dean of Engineering School of Monterrey Region
  • Jaime Bonilla, Associate Dean of Further Education
  • Ricardo Ramírez, Associate Dean of Research
