RWTH German Engineering College as a substitute for the GRE

Exciting news for all prospective students planning to apply for a Master’s degree program at RWTH Aachen University! Starting with the winter semester 2024/2025, students can submit proof of successful completion of our RWTH German Engineering College (GEC) instead of the GRE General Test. The GEC can thus replace the GRE in the application process.*

The GEC is a digital qualification program that offers future students tailored preparation for their desired Master’s degree program. Participants complete English-taught modules from the Bachelor’s degree programs of RWTH faculties in order to close subject-related gaps.

Upon successful completion the GEC, prospective students can not only waive the GRE test, but are also admitted to the Master’s degree program without any academic requirements and will benefit from priority access during the admission process. In addition, there is the chance to receive a 50% scholarship for the Master's degree program.

The GEC replaces the GRE for the following Master’s degree programs:

The application portal for the winter semester 2024/2025 opens on December 2, 2023.

The GEC takes place from July to October. Exams are taking place from November to December. Application for the program can be submitted by July 2, 2023 through this form.

*This regulation also applies to participants of our RWTH 4+2 Program from cooperating universities.
