QS World University Rankings 2022
RWTH Aachen University has achieved very good scores in the current QS Ranking by Subjects! RWTH is ranked first among the German universities on the following subjects:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Materials Science
- Mineral and Mining Engineering
In Architecture, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, RWTH Aachen University is among the top three German universities.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 cover a total of 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas. It's compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject. Research citations, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics, are used to rank universities.

Aachen's university is also convincing in an international comparison. In ten subjects it is among the 100 best universities worldwide!
In the field of Mineral and Mining Engineering, RWTH Aachen University ranks 16th and in Mechanical Engineering 19th.
