We highly recommend students to start searching for an appropriate scholarship as soon as possible. Scholarships for Short Courses
We believe that high-quality education and making intercultural experiences should be available to everybody, regardless of their financial situation. So we are glad to announce that we award scholarships for selected on-campus Summer & Winter Schools every year. Our different scholarships with reduced program fees increase the chance for students to attend our Short Courses, independent of their background.
We are awarding scholarships to particularly qualified applicants on a rolling basis. As scholarship places are limited, your chances increase the earlier you apply.
Country Scholarship 2024
We love the country mix! As RWTH International Academy, we stand for diversity and intercultural exchange. Therefore, we want to give students from as many different cultural backgrounds as possible the chance to get a taste of studying at RWTH Aachen University. For the 2024 Summer Schools, we are again issuing Country Scholarships applicable for all open Summer Schools taking place on campus.
Scholarship holders receive 50% off the program fee.

Luckily, I got the scholarship to have an experience studying at RWTH Aachen University through this summer school. I chose Robotics, Communication Networks, and Innovation. My experience during the program at Aachen was incredible. Everything was so well planned and coordinated including the hostel, the transportation, and even the food. They provided me all that I need during my stay at Europe. I would recommend to all of my friends to join the program and feel about studying abroad in Germany, especially at RWTH Aachen University.

Scholarships for Master Applicants

Women in Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship was created to enable for more qualified female engineering students to pursue a Master’s degree program at RWTH International Academy. Furthermore, it is intended to create gender equality among the international students of English-taught Master’s degree programs in engineering.
High Potential Student Grant
This scholarship was created to enable highly qualified students to complete their Master’s degree program at RWTH Aachen, offered by RWTH International Academy. This scholarship can grant admitted students a reduction of up to 25% of the tuition fees charged by RWTH International Academy.
You can apply for both scholarships through our official application portal RWTHonline as part of your regular master’s application. The application deadline for these scholarships corresponds with our deadline for master’s application, March 1st for Non-EU applicants and July 15th for EU applicants.
Qualification Programs: Outstanding Performance Award
This scholarship honors talented students who have successfully completed one of our Master qualification programs in engineering. Their remarkable performance during the German Engineering College, the RWTH 4+2 Program or the RWTH 3+1+2 Program will be rewarded with a reduction of up to 50% of the tuition fees charged by RWTH International Academy.
The program manager will select suitable participants of one of the mentioned qualification programs, who can then submit an internal application towards the end of the program.

Best of Class Award
The ‘Best of Class Award’ was established to honor talented students with outstanding achievements, who are enrolled at RWTH Aachen University in one of the engineering Master’s degree programs organized by RWTH International Academy.
German Language Merit Scholarship
RWTH International Academy actively supports students’ efforts towards learning German and rewards good performances accordingly. With this goal in mind, we have set up a German Language Merit Scholarship attainable for a substantial number of students.
Student Project Grant
The Student Project Grant is an exclusive scholarship for RWTH International Academy students. RWTH International Academy provides funding for students who wish to pursue field research, extracurricular research work, or project work during their degree program.
Social Responsibility Award
The Social Responsibility Award was established to honor deserving RWTH International Academy students who demonstrate their awareness and responsibility for our society and environment by regularly contributing to communal or creative commitments.

Alumni Research Grant
Numerous ideas and many unusual but forward-looking research approaches have emerged from RWTH. Together with our alumni, we also want to "think the future" in line with the RWTH motto.
The Alumni Research Grant is an exclusive scholarship for RWTH International Academy alumni. RWTH International Academy provides funding for alumni who wish to pursue field research, extracurricular research work, or project work after completing their degree program.

Scholarship Databases
- DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) offers a scholarship database with a broad variety of scholarship programs for international students on its website.
- RWTH Aachen University also offers a Scholarship Database.
- KfW Student Loan: Germans, EU-residents, Bildungsinländer, and applicants with a German spouse can receive a student loan, if they fulfil certain requirements.
- BAFÖG: German students can receive BAFÖG, if they fulfil certain requirements.
