How to register for a Short Course at RWTH International Academy
The registration period for our Short Courses starts in autumn. Remember to sign up well in advance to benefit from our Early Bird discount and allow enough time for the admission procedures, travel preparations and getting to know our digital learning tools. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
Student's Profile
Every year we welcome students from all over the world. You can become part of our international student community if you are:
- are at least 18 years old
- in your Bachelor‘s, Master‘s, in between or recently graduated
- are proficient in the English language
To create groups with a high mix of different cultures, we try to accept not more than 5 students from one country for each open program.
Required Documents
Please submit the following documents in English:
- Your Cover Letter
- Your Curriculum Vitae (Resume)
- Your academic records (Transcript of Records)
- A color photo of yourself
No English certificate is required. Our courses are all in English and therefore a proficient knowledge of English is important. To be able to assess yourself, the following levels are adequate: TOEFL ibt: 72 points, IELTS: 5.5 band score, TOEIC: 785 points, Cambridge: FCE, Grade C, CEFR = B2.

The registration process for our courses is very easy! Simply select the program on our website you want to sign up for. Don‘t worry, you have the chance to apply for multiple programs at the same time. The „Sign up“ button takes you to a form where you can enter your data and upload all necessary documents. If you have any questions, we are happy to support you!

Besides our two discounts, which are is available for everyone, different scholarships with reduced program fees increase the chance for students to attend our courses, independent of their background.
Early Bird Discount – get 10% off!
If you complete your registration by the deadline, you benefit from our 10% Early Bird discount. This applies to all open on-campus programs. Remember to sign up well in advance. Planning ahead also allows enough time for the admission procedures.
Friends & Peers Discount – get 15% off!
Convince a friend to embark on your learning journey together. If you and your friend are admitted to one of our on-campus programs, you both receive a 15% discount. So reach out to your peers and have the best semester holidays together!

Workloads of our Short Courses
Have a look at the workload of our Short Courses:
(1 hour = 45 minutes)
- 2-week programs | about 75 hours
- 3-week programs | about 100 hours
- 4-week programs | about 125 hours
1 ECTS credit point can be awarded per 25 hours
Please note: All Short Courses are full-time programs!
Certificate Information
At the end of a Short Course, all participants will receive an official RWTH Aachen University certificate. Depending on whether you have passed the final examination or not, this certificate will either prove your participation or even award you with a grade and ECTS credit points.
In every case, your certificate shows the workload as well as the academic contents of the completed course and is a valuable addition to your CV.
