Summer School | Robotics for Future Industrial Applications
This Summer School is all about engineering, controlling and programming robots. First you gain fundamental theoretical knowledge in robotics and then apply your skills in lab classes at RWTH Aachen University. You solve classical problems in robotics like localization and navigation and make use of simulations.
Programming, path planning, trajectory planning, mapping and object manipulation are part of this program. Receive information on industrial applications and see how stationary and mobile robots move because of your programming.

Benefit from excellent teaching of RWTH Aachen University
Our Summer Schools are uniquely designed for international students who want to gain insights into German engineering at RWTH Aachen – a top-ranked university and one of Europe’s leading science and research institutions. You benefit from high-value academic content, excellent lecturers and a strong network of industry partners.

Program Outline | Summer School 2022
The lectures provide you with fundamental theoretical knowledge on lightweight industrial robots. First, you review the development and classification of robot manipulators. Then you work on the mobility of industrial robots and consider mathematical foundations for the position analysis.
Since the theory based lectures are complemented by lab classes, you apply your acquired knowledge in practical projects and exercises. By using common software in robotics, you learn about sensors and their inaccuracy, solve tasks like mapping, navigation, planning and reasoning.

Your Lecturers | Summer School 2022
The academic content has been carefully designed by the Institute of Mechanism Theory, Machine Dynamics and Robotics (IGMR) and the Knowledge-Based System Group (KSBG) of RWTH Aachen University.
IGMR's research areas include mechanism theory, kinematics, machine dynamics and vibration technology, robotics and mechatronics. The KBSG is concerned with topics in knowledge representation, artificial intelligence, and cognitive robotics.
The contents of the program may change. RWTH International Academy reserves the right to make changes to the organization, the staffing or the running of a program that have no major effect on the overall character of the program.
What's included? Enjoy a comfortable stay in Aachen
With our all-inclusive package we provide our participants a carefree stay in the charming historic city of Aachen. The program fees of each on-campus program contain for example:
- Accommodation (usually 3-or 4-bed rooms)
- Breakfast and lunch on weekdays
- A local public transportation ticket
- Broad supporting program
- Personal support from local mentors
- Emergency contact
- Certificate from RWTH Aachen University

Supporting Program & Intercultural Experience
To support the academic content of your program, we include a broad supporting program: Get in touch with excellent science and research through our institute, lab and company visits.
