RWTH International Academy - Women in Engineering Scholarship
The number of female international students in the area of mechanical engineering lies merely around 25%, according to RWTH Key Data 2019. This scholarship was created to enable for more qualified female engineering students to pursue a Master’s degree program at RWTH International Academy. Furthermore, it is intended to create gender equality among the international students of English-taught Master’s degree programs in engineering.

Fellowship for Turkish Engineers - Supplementary Scholarship for Holders of the Joint Master Scholarship DAAD-TEV, Turkey
This scholarship intends to support highly qualified engineering students from Turkey to pursue a Master’s degree program at RWTH Aachen University, organized by RWTH International Academy. It is intended to supplement scholarship holders of the DAAD-TEV scholarship program for Turkish students and allows a waiver of the tuition fees charged by RWTH International Academy. Please note: Please apply before March 1st, even without having received results from your DAAD application. Your DAAD results can be turned in after receiving them.
It is important to us that our students arrive, knowing where they will be living for the start of their studies. We offer housing scholarships for admitted students which amount to 250 EUR monthly for a micro apartment in our housing complex on Elisabethstraße. Students will need to pay the remaining rental fee of 300 EUR per month. This scholarship will be awarded for a period of the student’s first twelve months of their studies.
You are welcome to apply for the scholarship via our Housing Website. Please take note that the application portal will only be visible during the following application period: 19 April – 25 April. You will simply need to provide a letter of motivation and an estimate of your monthly costs in order to submit your application for the housing scholarship.

The Student Project Grant is an exclusive scholarship for RWTH International Academy students. RWTH International Academy provides funding for students who wish to pursue field research, extracurricular research work, or project work during their degree program.

German Language Merit Scholarship (GLMS) for Extracurricular German Courses
RWTH International Academy actively supports students’ efforts towards learning German and rewards good performances accordingly. With this goal in mind, we have set up a German Language Merit Scholarship attainable for a substantial number of students.
During their studies at RWTH International Academy, students are encouraged to take German language courses beyond the curricular requirement of their program. In this regard, they can get sponsored by us: Under certain conditions, the costs for additional language courses can be fully or partly funded through a scholarship.
Eligible for funding are extracurricular German language courses offered by RWTH Language Center. Students need to actively and self-responsibly register themselves for a German language course at the Language Center. This includes that students have to pay the course fee in advance (please note that course offerings and capacities are administered by RWTH Language Center - RWTH International Academy is not responsible in this regard).
The scholarship regulations apply from October 1, 2020. Any other cases or applications than described in the regulations cannot be considered. The regulations may be subject to change, which will be communicated accordingly.
The Alumni Research Grant is an exclusive scholarship for RWTH International Academy alumni. RWTH International Academy provides funding for alumni who wish to pursue field research, extracurricular research work, or project work after completing their degree program.

Scholarship Databases
ALEARG: Argentinian students may apply for this scholarship. This joint program with the DAAD supports scholarship holders for up to two years.
ALEPRONA: Peruvian students may apply for this scholarship. This joint program with the DAAD supports scholarship holders for up to two years.
BAföG: German students can receive BAföG if they fulfil certain requirements. For more information about the requirements, see here.
Colfuturo: Colombian students can apply for a loan / scholarship from Colfuturo. Study costs are divided in two, with Colfuturo covering one half and providing a loan for the other. More information regarding this financing possibility can be found on their website.
CONACYT: Mexican students can apply for a full or partial scholarship. This joint program with the DAAD covers the full tuition fees and gives additional support for monthly living for scholarship holders.
KfW-Studienkredit: Germans, EU-residents, Bildungsinländer, and applicants with a German spouse can receive a student loan if they fulfil certain requirements.
Mummert: Students from Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Rumania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, or Hungary may apply for a “Mummert” scholarship.
SENACYT: Students from Panama can apply for this scholarship. This joint program with the DAAD supports scholarship holders for up to two years.
TCC (宗倬章教育基金會碩士進修獎學金): Engineering and Natural Sciences Students from Taiwan can apply for this scholarship. This joint program with DAAD IC Taipei supports schoalrship holders for up to two years.
KAAD: Christian students from emering or developing countries in Asia, Africa, Latinamerica, and the Middle East can apply to the Catholic Academic Exchange Organization (KAAD) for a scholarship.
Scholarships from Political Parties
German political parties also offer scholarships through their foundations. These foundations receive their funding partly through the government. Membership in the party is not required, however, you should have an interest in the values of the foundation. The scholarships usually require exceptional academic achievement and political or social commitment.
Alliance 90/The Greens (GREEN) – Heinrich Böll Foundation. You should apply during your first semester. German Level B2 or DSH 2 is required. Please check the website for further information.
Christian Democratic Union – Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS). You should apply until July 15th (noon). German Level B2 is required. Please check the website for further information.
Die Linke (LINKE) – Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. You should apply until 1 April. German Level B2 is required. Please check the website for further information.
Free Democratic Party (FDP) – Friedrich Nauman Foundation for Freedom. You should apply before the end of your second semester. No language requirement.
Social Democratic Party (SPD) – Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) - Master Students should apply by 30. November. Equivalent of C1 in German is required. Please check the website for further information.
RWTH Bildungsfonds (Education Funds)
This scholarship is awarded to bachelor/master students of RWTH Aachen University demonstrating exceptional results during their studies (within the regular study time). RWTH International Academy students are eligible for the „Deutschlandstipendium“ part of this scholarship that currently awards 149 scholarships. These scholarships cover EUR 300,00 per month for one year. To find out more, please visit RWTH Aachen University Website.
KfW Study Loan
Undergraduate and graduate studies as well as certificate courses, including part-time courses are funded. Accordingly, every degree program offered by RWTH International Academy can be funded. You may request a monthly payment ranging between EUR 100 and EUR 650. The amount can be adapted within this scope for each semester seperately. The loan is given independent of income or assets. Security for a loan is not required. However, only German or EU students are eligible.
DAAD-STIBET-Matching Funds
This scholarship is designed for bachelor/master students who have to work to cover their living expenses. Its purpose is to relieve them and to give financial support during examination periods. 10 scholarships of EUR 400 each are offered for three months per year. DAAD Scholarship for International Students
The DAAD offers scholarships mainly for postgraduate education and training (doctoral studies, research). However, the selection process is highly competitive. Master's degree students from selected countries may apply for DAAD scholarships. For detailed information on available funding opportunities for international students, graduates, doctoral candidates, postdocs, and lecturers please visit the DAAD Scholarships Database. Applicants from eligible groups (i.e. students, graduates, doctoral candidates, and academic staff) must submit their applications either to the German Embassy in their home country or to a DAAD branch office there.

TANDEM Mentoring Program: The TANDEM mentoring program has been conducted successfully for several years and is offered by the Integration Team, a Rectorate staff unit at RWTH Aachen University. In one-to-one mentoring partnerships, mentees are supported by their mentors in developing their goals and potentials typically for the duration of one, up to one and a half years.

Henry Ford Stipendium: Female students of mechanical engineering, attending RWTH Aachen University, are welcome to apply for this scholarship which offers not only financial aid, but also an intensive support program.
