Summer School | European Studies
In this Summer School, you learn a lot about the economic, legal and political dimensions of the European Union. After an introduction of EU-history and -institutions, you debate current political questions. While you defend your perspective in a EU-role play, you become aware of the difficulties in decision-making processes.
Together we visit the European Parliament in Brussels and you get the chance to talk to its members!

Program Outline | Summer School 2022
This Summer School's aim is for you to comprehend the foundations of European economics, law and politics.
After considering the EU's history, institutions and structure, you are able to discuss current and future challenges. Concepts from microeconomics, public economics and international economics help you to evaluate the consequences of international economic integration.
By including resource usage and the climate system in our evaluatios, you consider climate risk management as a European topic. Another current issue for European policies is the digital transformation, which you discuss thoroughly. Together with an insider who is working at the European Parliament, you analyze the European legal system and the relationship between EU law and national law.
On top of that, you take a tour through the European Parliament in Brussels.
Your Lecturers | Summer School 2022
This course is conducted by the Department of International Economics at RWTH Aachen University. For the content on EU's legal system, we work with a jurist for European and international law. He is a political adviser for a parliamentary party and works at the European Parliament in Brussels. The RWTH Institute for Political Science contributes topics related to international relations.

Every year we welcome students from all over the world. You can become part of our international student community if you:
- are at least 18 years old
- pursue your higher education
- 1st/2nd year of studies completed
- degree related to our program - are proficient in the English language
No previous knowledge is needed for this course. The content is taught starting from the basics.
The two weeks of Summer School were very joyful and unforgettable. I learned a lot of new and interesting things. The Summer School broadened my horizons, my knowledge and my abilities. The teachers and students were very friendly and helpful. The small city of Aachen is full of energy and experiencing the life in Germany was fascinating.

The program is divided into two weeks of teaching. In week one, students explore and master the fundamentals of supply chain management by conducting a case study.
