Teaching Institutes & Partner
The Institute for Textile Technology (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University, led by Prof. Thomas Gries, integrates research and teaching in textile materials, manufacturing processes, and technical textile products. Embedded within the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, ITA oversees the textile modules in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Plastics and Textile Engineering.
As an industry technology transfer partner, ITA GmbH has successfully operated in R&D for over 14 years. On the RWTH Melaten Campus, about 6,500 m² of state‑of‑the‑art processing facilities, including 250+ machines in the technical center and specialized labs for textile testing and polymer analysis, drive innovation. Close proximity to Fraunhofer institutes and other RWTH departments fosters interdisciplinary collaborations and cutting‑edge solutions for the textile industry.
