Contents of the Training
The EDM (electrical discharge machining) and ECM (electrochemical machining) machining processes and the necessary basic knowledge will be presented to you in detail in this seminar. The content is taught by combining practical demonstrations on various machines with theoretical principles. As a result, the seminar will strengthen your ability to deal with problems in everyday industrial work.
Basic Training | Day 1
Basic Training | Day 2
Develop new skills and gain industry-specific knowledge
- Basic knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) and electrochemical machining (ECM)
- The ability to solve problems independently in everyday industrial work
- Strong focus on practical transfer: application of the theories learnt to the relevant machines
- Working on a case study in small groups to apply the content learnt

Teaching Institutes & Partner
Under the direction of Professor Thomas Bergs, the Manufacturing Technology Institute MTI of RWTH Aachen University teaches and researches central topics in manufacturing technology: These include modeling and simulation as well as the monitoring and control of metal-cutting, forming and abrasive manufacturing processes. Another central focus of our research work is the integration of the digital twin and artificial intelligence (digital transformation) as well as the comprehensive method development (technology management) for the design, optimization and evaluation of individual processes and process chains.
Participation Requirements & Target Group
The basic seminar is aimed at users of electrical discharge machining and electrochemical processing, machine operators, master craftsmen and employees from relevant areas. You will particularly benefit from this course if you work in the following areas:
- work preparation
- production
- service
- sales
Are you unsure whether this course is suitable for you or do you have further questions?
