Contents of the Training
This seminar provides an overview of forming manufacturing processes and the necessary basics. The knowledge is deepened through practical demonstrations on machines and test benches. This practice-oriented approach promotes an understanding of tools, machines, materials and the finite element method and helps to master the forming challenges of a constantly evolving industry.

Develop new skills and gain industry-specific knowledge
- Basic knowledge of bulk metal forming, sheet metal forming and separation, tribology and lubrication technology
- Ability to solve problems independently in everyday industrial forming work
- Strong focus on practical relevance
- Practical parts with a tour of the Feintool XFT 2500 speed fineblanking machine & Schuler HPX 400 hydraulic press
- Working on a case study in small groups to apply the content learned

Under the direction of Professor Thomas Bergs, the Manufacturing Technology Institute MTI at RWTH Aachen University teaches and conducts research on key topics in manufacturing technology, including modeling and simulation as well as the monitoring and control of cutting, forming and machining production processes. Another central focus of our research work is the integration of the digital twin and artificial intelligence (digital transformation) as well as the overarching development of methods (technology management) for the design, optimization and evaluation of individual processes and process chains.
