Building on the basic knowledge acquired (see also basic seminar on grinding technology), the advanced training on centreless plunge-cut and throughfeed grinding provides seminar participants with an in-depth understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of centreless plunge-cut and throughfeed grinding processes. You will gain an insight into the system structure, the process parameters and the process strategies for centreless plunge-cut and throughfeed grinding and also expand your knowledge of independent process design and error analysis.

- Basic knowledge of sanding processes, tools, dressing principles, use of coolants, sensors and measuring equipment
- Ability to independently solve problems in everyday industrial sanding operations

- Practical parts with application of learned theories on surface and cylindrical grinding machines
- Work on a case study in small groups to apply the learned content

Under the direction of Professor Thomas Bergs, the Manufacturing Technology Institute MTI at RWTH Aachen University teaches and conducts research on key topics in manufacturing technology, including modelling and simulation as well as the monitoring and control of machining, forming and ablative manufacturing processes. Another central focus of our research work is the integration of the digital twin and artificial intelligence (digital transformation) as well as the overarching development of methods (technology management) for the design, optimisation and evaluation of individual processes and process chains.
