Welcome to the M.Sc. Applied Health Informatics & Digital Medicine – Class of 2025!
Our new cohort of the Master of Science in Applied Health Informatics and Digital Medicine successfully began their studies in October 2025. Now, all students were able to meet each other in person here in Aachen for the first time. After the first few weeks together in the online format, everyone was excited to finally exchange ideas in person.
During the first on‑site block, the two foundational modules “Propedeutics of Health Informatics and Digital Transformation” and “Fundamentals of Medicine” or “Fundamentals of Algorithms, Data Structures & Programming” were on the schedule.
This combination ensures that everyone begins with a shared knowledge base. Students with a medical background were able to deepen their programming and algorithmic skills, while those with a technical background received a solid introduction to medical fundamentals and terminology. The diversity of perspectives noticeably enriched the discussions in the seminar room.
Healthcare is becoming increasingly digital — and this is exactly where the field of Medical Informatics comes in. It combines medical expertise with modern IT, enabling data and technologies to be used meaningfully to improve patient care. Professionals who understand both worlds are essential for designing intelligent, secure, and future‑ready healthcare systems.
The journey has begun, yet the path ahead holds much more. In the coming semesters, students will deepen their knowledge in areas such as software engineering, biostatistics, and machine learning.
The program will continue in a hybrid format: online learning units are complemented by regular on‑site sessions here in Aachen.
A big thank‑you to our new cohort — it was great to finally meet you in person. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back to Aachen for the next on‑site block.
Here’s to an exciting study experience full of new impressions, encounters, and ideas!
Curious about the next cohort? The application period for this year has already started.
