Welcome Day & Community Day: Connecting Our RWTH International Academy Community
Welcome to our new Master's students!
A new academic year brings new beginnings, new connections, and new opportunities and this year, the RWTH International Academy community came together to celebrate all three! Our Welcome Day and Community Day brought together around 230 new students, alumni, professors, industry representatives, and members of the RWTH International Academy team at the heart of RWTH Aachen University: the SuperC. Across both events, the day was filled with inspiring conversations, valuable insights, professional networking, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect and create new perspectives.
Welcoming the Class of 2026
The Welcome Day marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our Master's students. Around 230 students joined the RWTH International Academy community and will continue their lifelong learning journey across our Master's degree programs.
The day began with a warm welcome from the RWTH International Academy team, followed by a speech from Prof. Burkhard Corves, Academic Director of the M.Sc. Robotic Systems Engineering and Head of the IGMR Institute, who welcomed the new class and shared insights into the journey ahead.
Students also had the opportunity to expand their professional networks from day one. Robotics company DoBot joined the celebrations, accompanied by a humanoid robot, adding a memorable touch to the event and showcasing the exciting connections between education, technology, and industry.
Another insightful part of the day was learning about life and professional opportunities in Germany. Dr. Petra Pointner from the RWTH Language Center highlighted the importance of learning German, while Aral Onur, M.Sc. MME-PS, shared his personal journey from starting his Master's degree at RWTH International Academy to building a successful global career.
Celebrating Our Alumni Community
While welcoming our newest students, we were equally delighted to welcome back our alumni for Community Day. For our graduates, the day was an opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, meet the new generation of RWTH International Academy students, discover what's new at RWTH Aachen University, and continue their own professional journey. The program included an exclusive tour of the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design, where the team opened its doors and provided a glimpse into their work and research. A special thank you goes to Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai-Uwe Schröder, Daniel Alboldt, and the entire team for making this visit possible.
The day continued with an interactive workshop led by Bastian Hughes, career coach, trainer, and founder of Berufsoptimierer, focusing on “Executive Presence in an International Workplace.” As technologies, teams, and professional environments continue to evolve, the workshop offered our alumni practical guidance and new perspectives to help them grow and thrive in an international workplace.
One Community, New Perspectives
Bringing Welcome Day and Community Day together created something truly special: an opportunity for our newest students and experienced alumni to learn from one another, exchange experiences, and build connections that extend beyond the classroom.
A big thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Welcome Week and Welcome Day and helped create a great start for our new students.
We are looking forward to the semester ahead!
