Welcome back: Second On-Campus Phase in the M.Sc. Periodontology 2025
Welcome back, Paroma 2025!
It has not been long since the current M.Sc. Periodontology (Paroma 2025) cohort visited Aachen at the end of November to finally meet in person, begin the practical training phase, and explore the Christmas market. Now, the second on‑site phase was already underway – and this time, everything revolved around surgery.
Focus on surgical treatment
Over the course of four days, our instructors first taught the fundamentals of surgical treatment for periodontal diseases. Building on this foundation, they demonstrated various incision and suturing techniques, which the students then practiced step by step.
This allowed everyone to work at their own pace and thoroughly internalize the methods. Instructional videos and step‑by‑step photo series provided additional guidance and reassurance throughout the exercises.
Because personal interaction with our instructors is especially important to us, they were available throughout the entire training period for individual questions – and stepped in themselves whenever needed to demonstrate the delicate techniques. They also shared valuable tips and insights drawn from many years of clinical experience.
In addition to practicing different techniques, the students had the opportunity to try out a variety of materials and instruments. We extend our sincere thanks to our industry partners Geistlich, B. Braun Group, Camlog, and Straumann, who supported the training not only with high‑quality materials but also by being present on site, answering questions, and offering valuable insights into products and clinical applications.
