Practice and Interaction: First On-Campus Phase in the M.Sc. Periodontology 2025

Hi Paroma 2025, nice to meet you!

Since late September, the current M.Sc. Periodontology (Paroma 2025) cohort has been learning online – now they met in Aachen for the first time. In the first on-campus phase, the modules "Oral Microbiology" and "Periodontal Diseases" were the main focus, providing the foundations for periodontal treatment.

Hands-on Start

In the module "Oral Microbiology," the focus is not only on the biological foundations and causes of periodontal diseases, but students also have the opportunity to work live in the laboratory with different bacterial strains.

The module "Periodontal Diseases" furthermore offers the chance to practice initial treatment techniques directly at the dental chair. Our students are supported by our industry partner Dürr Dental and its equipment. This allows them to try out various treatment methods and techniques firsthand – even if these are (still) not available in their own practices.

But what would the first on-campus phase be without getting to know each other? Even if the students already know each other digitally, meeting in person is something entirely different. Therefore, the program for the first on-campus phase also includes a joint dinner, which creates space for personal exchange.

We would like to thank our students for making the long journey and all lecturers and industry partners for the intensive practical days! A big thank you to the Dr. Wolff Group, who welcomed our students with a small gift.

We are already looking forward to February, when we will meet again in Aachen!
