Outstanding Teaching Award 2025 for excellent education in the German Engineering College
to Prof. Dr. Paul Kögerler & his team
We are delighted to present the Outstanding Teaching Award again this year. For the second time, RWTH International Academy recognizes exceptional achievements in digital teaching in our film studio.
The nominees are chosen equally by student vote (50%) and the Academy jury (50%), reflecting both the participants' direct experience and the didactic quality from an expert perspective.
Honoring the course "Fundamentals of Chemistry"
In 2025, the award goes to Professor Dr. Paul Kögerler and his team. They first taught the course, "Fundamentals of Chemistry," in 2024 as part of the qualification program German Engineering College (GEC).
The course impressed with its wide variety of materials and media. The lecturers effectively demonstrated chemical concepts through engaging laboratory videos and creative examples, such as "Star Trek," as well as current references from research and everyday life.
A special mention goes to the passionate commitment of Prof. Dr. Paul Kögerler, Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences. His enthusiasm for the subject and dedication to the participants' learning experience were key to the course's success.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Porf. Dr. Kögerler for his exceptional commitment and contributions to making digital teaching at the German Engineering College more engaging, hands-on, and inspiring.
This would not have been possible without the continuous contributions of everyone behind the camera and the enormous effort that went into editing the videos and getting everything straightened out. I'm very surprised and would like to thank you all very much! Thank you as well to all the participants in front of the screens. I know the semester has already started in China, at least as far as I know. So, it's an extra effort for you to attend our lectures. Thank you for staying focused and sharp. You have been very engaging in the exercises, which is a good sign. If you have any questions or comments, we are available to answer them in the learning space.

German Engineering College (GEC)
The GEC is a digital qualification program that enables future students to tailor their preparation for their desired Master's degree course. Participants complete English-language modules from the Bachelor's degree programs of the RWTH faculties and thus close subject-related gaps.
