On-Campus Week in the Summer Semester: Advancing Digital Health Together

This summer semester, students from the part-time Master’s program Applied Health Informatics & Digital Medicine returned to Aachen for another on-campus attendance week. While the program is primarily delivered online, the in-person sessions remain an essential part of the learning experience, combining academic training, and valuable networking opportunities.

Ethical, Legal & Social Dimensions of Biomedical Informatics

As digital technologies become increasingly integrated into healthcare, responsible innovation is more important than ever. Participants explore how topics such as data protection, ethical review processes, and health technology assessment help ensure that advances such as AI-supported diagnostics and digital health applications are not only innovative, but also trustworthy, patient-centered, and legally compliant.

Data Management & Data Science

High-quality healthcare starts with high-quality data. This module introduced students to the principle of responsible data management, including FAIR data principles, data governance, reproducible analytics, and modern research infrastructures. Through practical examples, participants strengthened their understanding of how robust data management supports evidence-based decision making and drives innovation in healthcare.

Biostatistics & Epidemiology

Transforming health data into meaningful insights requires sound methodological expertise. Students deepened their knowledge of epidemiological study design, statistical modelling, and the interpretation of clinical and research data.

The blend of flexible online learning and intensive face-to-face teaching continues to make the Master’s program an attractive choice for working professionals seeking to expand their expertise at the intersection of healthcare, data science, and digital medicine.
