Meet our new partner universities: Sogang University and Soongsil University from South Korea

Recently, we had the honor of welcoming our new partner universities, Sogang University and Soongsil University from South Korea, to RWTH International Academy!

During the visit, two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed with both universities. Sogang University and Soongsil University have been awarded funding under the Seoul RISE (Regional Innovation System for Education) initiative. One of the initiative’s key goals is to strengthen the global competencies of young talents — a goal that will be advanced through the collaboration with RWTH International Academy.

New cooperation opportunities for students from South Korea

Together, we are developing various opportunities for students from South Korea to take part in our Short Courses, offering them meaningful academic experiences and opportunities to engage with our campus community. This growing partnership lays the foundation for further initiatives, joint activities, and enriching exchanges.

We are looking forward to many exciting projects that we will pursue together in the future!

One focus was the joint Study Visit at RWTH Aachen University by undergraduate students from Sogang and Soongsil Universities in January, organized in cooperation with the International Mentor Group (IMG). The lectures were delivered by experts from the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University. The program covered two key areas: Artificial Intelligence — including Machine Learning Concepts, Neural Networks, and Deep Learning — and Smart Factory approaches with a focus on Modern Factory Layout Planning. We are sincerely grateful for the expertise and perspectives they shared.

In order to strengthen the participants’ global competencies, they worked together with RWTH student mentors on exciting projects related to the topics of the visit. To make the stay even more memorable, an intercultural city rally with the mentors was included, giving participants a fun way to get to know the city.

We would also like to thank the representatives of Sogang University, Soongsil University and the IMG for the valuable exchange! We look forward to further deepening our cooperation and to welcoming students from our partner universities on future visits.
