Internal workshop: Personal professionalization in academic continuing education!
Further development and personal professionalization in academic continuing education!
At RWTH International Academy, we attach great importance to the continuous development of our employees' skills.
In order to strengthen the advising skills and competencies of our Student Success Managers, they had the opportunity to participate in the skills workshop "Advising landscapes and boundaries: How to advise and support students in a solution-oriented and targeted way".
Workshop Objective:
The goal of this workshop was to strengthen our Student Success Managers on multiple levels. The workshop offered an intensive examination of the requirements for an "ideal" advisor and helped participants to reflect on their current status.
Through practical exercises and work phases such as systemic questioning, developing an effective approach, and learning methods to increase motivation and self-management, our colleagues were able to significantly develop their advising skills.
Special emphasis was placed on resilience and the ability to leave the challenges of counseling at the office. The importance of setting boundaries in advising was also emphasized, particularly in terms of recognizing one's own limits and knowing when to refer for further advising services.
This comprehensive workshop enabled our staff to not only provide targeted and solution-oriented advising, but also to further develop their role as Student Success Managers in a professional and sustainable manner.
International target groups: Advice, support and guidance
The challenges and needs of students from different cultures require a special level of sensitivity and intercultural competence. This workshop is designed to ensure that our Student Success Managers are well prepared to meet the diverse needs and requirements.
Many thanks to Ms. Laura Zentgraf for the valuable impulses and the excellent cooperation in designing this workshop!
