From lasers to implants: last attendance phase of M.Sc. Periodontology – class 2024

Is it August already? Time flew by!

August in Aachen once again marked an important milestone for our M.Sc. Periodontology students: the final attendance phase of Paroma 2024. For four days, the participants got to really dive deep into Implantology and Lasers in Periodontal Therapy. They mixed hands-on training with real clinical experiences. It was the last time this our group got together in Aachen before focusing on their master's theses.

Laser Training in Periodontal Therapy

On the first two days, our students were able to practice using different lasers and wavelengths on different models. This helps them to understand which procedures can be an alternative to conventional treatments.

These training sessions took place in Dr. Grümer's dental office so that the students also had the opportunity to take part in real treatment situations. The different uses of lasers were demonstrated live on patients so the students were able to ask their questions directly to the lecturers and discuss the procedure in small groups.

Mastering Implantology: from digital planning to real cases

The other two days were dedicated to implantology. During the practical sessions, our students learned about digital implant planning for guided placement, emergence profiling, and individualized and intraoperative impressions. To support this training, various real cases were presented and discussed to further deepen their knowledge.
