A major achievement in our alliance with Guatemala
We are glad to announce that we have successfully formalized and implemented a new agreement on our German Engineering College with Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG)!
The institution is renowned for its technological innovation and promotion of research and higher education.
Exceptional career opportunities for students in Guatemala
Due to the support provided by Dr. Victor Ayerdi Bardales, we are proud to receive the first participants and scholarship holders from Guatemala this year. They will join the German Engineering College Co-Study Version as well as our format GEC On-Campus.
Successfully completing the GEC grants them admission to the chosen Master’s Degree Program without the need for the GRE test.
This collaboration opens doors to unforgettable experiences and exceptional career opportunities for students in Guatemala.

At the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG), we are very happy to sign this agreement with RWTH International Academy, which will allow our students from the mechanical, industrial-mechanical and mechatronics engineering programs to participate in the academic programs that you offer to international students, both virtually and in-person in Germany, and also to study in the excellent master's programs that are included in this agreement. At UVG we are committed to develop agents of change that impact society, through educational and research experiences focused on Sciences and Technologies, so these types of alliances with an internationally recognized institution of excellent level such as RWTH International Academy, are key to the academic experience we offer to our students.
Dr. Víctor Hugo Ayerdi, Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering - UVG
Students at UVG can tailor their engineering studies:
Specifically, the students can participate in two different versions of our German Engineering College starting in 2024.
- The Co-Study version, involving five online courses. Students complete one or several courses annually throughout their Bachelor's Degree Programs, earning their certificate upon graduation.
- Alternatively, the On-Campus version includes an online preparation phase with three courses, followed by a six-month period in Aachen. During their time abroad from August to late January, participants complete three additional courses and undertake a four-month internship at an institute of RWTH Aachen University.
Both formats of the German Engineering College provide access to fascinating engineering postgraduate programs in the fields of Robotics, Digital Engineering, Management and Engineering and Material Engineering. Therefore, regardless of the format chosen by students, they will experience enriching international opportunities.
I am confident that this partnership will strengthen our commitment to quality education and enable us to continue promoting the growth of our international academic community.
Melanie Ostfeld, Director Latin America Office - RWTH International Academy
We are looking forward to accompanying our Guatemalan students to Aachen!
