A Final Week of Practical Training in Aachen for our M.Sc. Periodontology
How can it be the last attendance phase already?
During their final practical training days, our students focused on two important areas of periodontal and implant dentistry: Implantology and Lasers in Periodontal Therapy. Once again, the combination of theoretical knowledge, hands-on training, and real clinical cases gave the students the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice.
Hands-On Training in Laser Therapy
Our students had the opportunity to work with different lasers and wavelengths on various models. These hands-on exercises provided them with a practical understanding of the different applications of laser therapy and helped them explore when laser-assisted procedures can be considered as an alternative or complement to conventional treatment approaches.
The training sessions took place at Dr. Grümer’s dental practice, giving the students an additional opportunity to experience laser therapy in a real clinical environment.
Different applications of lasers were demonstrated live on patients, allowing the students to observe the procedures in practice. They were also able to ask questions directly to the lecturers and discuss the individual treatment approaches in small groups.
Exploring Modern Implantology
The following two days focused on Implantology. During the practical sessions, the students explored different aspects of modern implant treatment, including digital implant planning for guided implant placement, emergence profiling, and individualized as well as intraoperative impressions.
To complement the practical training, various real clinical cases were presented and discussed. This allowed the students to apply their newly acquired knowledge to realistic treatment situations and further deepen their understanding of modern implantological workflows.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, consider different treatment approaches, and connect the practical exercises with clinical decision-making.
One Final Attendance Phase and the Next Step
With these four practical training days, another important chapter of the Paroma 2025 journey in Aachen has come to an end.
