The Summer School is headed by a young and ambitious expert of PRS Technology GmbH, which is a consultancy spin-off at RWTH Aachen University, functioning as the private sector partner of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) and Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in the field of technology and knowledge transfer.
Academic Content & Certificates
The Summer School is dedicated to Six Sigma quality management and divided into three core areas:
Introduction to Quality Management
Quality remains as one of the outstanding differentiation characteristics in global competition. For a long time, the concept of a product embossed as just a product has changed to a holistic framework integrating the entire enterprise itself. Accordingly, quality management continues to develop and acquires knowledge about the organization of processes and structures in companies. It provides the framework to document best-practices for controlling product and process outcomes and consequently improve processes, lower costs and engage staff.
Insight into Six Sigma Methodology
As one of the most widespread concepts in the field of quality management, Six Sigma provides professional and management personnel with a framework for systematic planning and effective implementation of sustainable improvement projects along structured project management approaches. It enables a process owner to control the deviations and variation in a process by reducing defects and wastes resulting in increase of performance and productivity. Six Sigma underlines statistical thinking at all levels and promotes a process well controlled within process limits +/- 3s from the center line in a control chart, and requirements/tolerance limits +/- 6s from the center line.
Why Six Sigma Quality Management?
This Summer School offers the chance to benefit from the theoretical aspects of quality management tools and methodologies and, together with Six Sigma, provides a framework for participants to put the learned procedures into practice. Six Sigma Quality Management is oriented towards providing the best understanding of the principles and significance of quality management for an organization. Moreover, this Summer School will enable students to develop soft skills such as problem-solving oriented thinking, leadership as well as team building and project management.
At the end of the program, students will take part in a written final exam or final presentation over the course. Upon successful completion, you will receive an Executive Certificate from RWTH Aachen University stating your final grade of the course.
