Visa, Travel and Insurance
The visa application process can vary from country to country. The following information is provided as a general guideline.
Please apply for a student visa. As a guest student you have the same rights as a normal student at the RWTH Aachen University and will also get a student card.
Get your visa:
- Once you have admitted to the programme, we will send you an Admission Letter (in English) and a Visa Letter (in German). The Visa Letter are addressed to the German Embassy/Consulate in your home country and state the circumstances of your planned study in Germany.
- You should then book an appointment with the German Embassy in your country immediately. Please note that the visa can take up to three months to be granted, and it could take a few weeks to get an appointment.
Please calculate with enough time for the visa application process. For non-European citizens, this process may take between two to six months. Please start the visa application process immediately after receiving your admission and make an appointment with the German embassy as soon as possible.
