Nationals of the European Union and "Bildungsinländer" can now apply until July 15, 2018. Apply here for the Winter Semester 2018/19! Find our step-by-step guide for your application at RWTH Aachen University here.

Profound skills in computer-aided methods are of growing importance for every engineer in all fields of professional activity. The M.Sc. Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering (CAME) at the RWTH Aachen University addresses specifically the purposes of the practicing mechanical engineer. Within one programme you can choose between two specializations - one design-oriented and one production-oriented - to fit your personal interest best. Thus, students can chart a customized learning programme according to their educational background and professional career plans.

Our Engineering graduates...

  • work at companies such as Anvis, BASF, Continental, Fiat, Ford, Kautex, Liebherr, Rolls Royce, Toyota, Volkswagen
  • Half of our graduates find a job within a month after graduating, two thirds within three months and 9 out of 10 within six months
  • increase their salary by more than 50% (about 40 %)

At the beginning of the programme, students choose to pursue either the "Conception of Machines" or the "Production of Machines" specialization. Both specializations consist of lectures and practice elements, such as exercises and laboratory sessions, during which students are exposed to the most advanced techniques in the field. Our students are taught by internationally known and academically accredited specialists from the respective disciplines or faculties in an environment that focuses on facilitating your intellectual, professional and personal advancement. In addition, an industrial internship and a research project work (Mini Thesis) are an integral part of each study track. The Master Thesis concludes the four-semester study programme to be awarded the Master of Science degree from the RWTH Aachen University.

Programme Structure

The M.Sc. CAME is organized in two specializations: "Conception of Machines" and "Production of Machines". Students must choose one specialization to pursue in their studies:

Study Track: Conception of Machines
Study Track: Production of Machines

In addition, all students of the CAME programme must complete the following coursework:

  • A complementary German language course (to be completed with the B1 examination)
  • A nine-week Industrial Internship
  • A study-integrated Mini Thesis
  • A four-month Master Thesis.

In awarding the RWTH Aachen University Master's Degree, the programme gives its graduates a degree that is recognised world-wide and qualifies its graduates for further PhD studies.

Graduate Profile

The scientific leadership of the M.Sc. CAME lies with the Institute of General Mechanics (IAM) of the RWTH Aachen University. Professor Bernd Markert is the program's academic director and Ms. Kioko Li is in charge of academic advising.
