Construction, Processing and Application of Aluminum Products

Familiarise yourself with the material aluminum or deepen your knowledge in the areas of further processing and possible applications. In addition to the basics of metallurgy, you will also receive a broad knowledge of the individual process steps in manufacturing and processing aluminum products.

You are a specialist or newcomer from an aluminum processing company.

Aluminum is one of the most versatile metals in use: low weight, high strength and formability make it a universal material that is used in the manufacture and further processing of high-quality products. As an interdisciplinary research and development partner for industrial applications, the aluminum engineering center Aachen (aec) offers a pool of highly qualified material technicians and engineers for future projects.

Through lectures and practical exercises, the entire process chain, from the manufacture of an aluminum component to testing in a drop tower, is completed. It is possible to attend the seminar as needed for 2 or 4 days.

On the first day of the seminar the following topics will be taught:

  • Lecture and practical training metallurgic basics of aluminum materials and aluminum recycling from mixed waste
  • Lecture and practical training Extraction and recycling of aluminum

On the second day of the seminar the following topics will be taught:

  • Casting technique - metallurgy and processing
  • Permanent mold process - chill casting
  • Design of cyclically stressed elements from aluminum materials
  • Strength tests of Al materials

On the third day of the seminar the following topics will be taught:

  • Joining technology and welding procedures for aluminum alloys
  • Construction and calculation of AI constructions
  • Lecture and practical training wear and corrosion protection of AI elements

On the fourth day of the seminar the following topics will be taught:

  • Lecture: Use of aluminum in automotive
  • Practical training aluminum in automotive construction
  • Process chain modeling for automotive strip
  • Forming technologies for Al semi-finished products and molded parts
  • Plastic forming of aluminum alloys
