You are an EU applicant if you either:

1. Have citizenship of an EU/EEA country,
2. Are currently enrolled at RWTH Aachen or
3. Hold a German university degree.

Your are an Non-EU applicant if you do have citizenship of a country outside EU/EEA.

Since all our Master’s are English taught, you need sound English language skills and must proof these with an English language certificate. A list of accepted test formats can be found here.

There is no minimum GPA to get admission. All our applicants are evaluated on a competitive basis, considering the overall impression as well as the academic grades. Our selection process also depends on your home university, work experience, extra-curricular activities, Letters of Recommendation as well as Statement-of-Purpose. Moreover, it depends on the number of applicants for that particular year.

Admission is the official term when you receive a study place offer from RWTH Aachen, after your application has been reviewed successfully. When you accept this study place, you need to officially register yourself to become an active student of RWTH Aachen. This process of registration is called enrollment.

You may apply for a maximum of 10 Master’s degree programs.

Please understand that we cannot check application documents beforehand or make any statements regarding eligibility. We look forward to receiving your online application portal RWTHonline which will open on December 2nd each year. However, if you are a student of India, China or Latin America you may send your application documents directly to our International Offices there, who offer pre-check services.

Unfortunately, a deferral to the next intake is not possible. You must re-apply and pass the selection process again.

According to the General Examination Regulations and the Master’s Examination Regulations conditional admission can be granted. All additional academic requirements, listed in your admission offer must then be passed by the time of registration for the master’s thesis.

Our evaluation process is very thorough as your application will be reviewed formally and academically first, before being presented to the responsible faculty for the final decision. This process can take a few weeks and we always aim to send out admission as early as possible.

The so called “Semesterbeitrag” is a student body and social contribution fee charged by RWTH Aachen University in addition to the tuition fees by RWTH International Academy. The Semersterbeitrag must be paid every semester to keep your status as active student. All necessary payment information can be found in the enrollment section in your Self Service in RWTHonline.

The higher education entrance qualification refers to your high school degree or school leaving qualification, not your university degree. As Non-German applicant, please select option 2 “I have obtained a foreign higher entrance qualification”.

Please fill the grade field like this: 8.56/10, entering your final GPA as wells as the maximum grade possible according to your university’s grading system.

If there are no such exams in your university or transcript, you may fill in ‘not planned’.
